Restricted activity due to oral disease among girl students in Gwangju

Abstract
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the restricted activity due to oral disease among girl students.

Methods: Self-reporting questionnaires about the activity restriction during the past one year and types of activity restriction due to oral disease were surveyed among 1,402 girl students in 2 schools selected using cluster sampling.

Results: The proportion of students¡¯ restricted activity was 14.1%, and the annual average of the restricted activity days was 1.36. The major factors related to the restricted activity were parents¡¯ concern about children¡¯ s oral health, self-efficacy in oral disease prevention, perceived salience of oral health and time-banier about dental utilization. Those who felt burdensome in sparing time for dental care were more liltely to be experience activity restriction.

Conclusion: For reducing restricted activity due to oral disease, the oral health promotion in school has to developed and executed.
